To Be Faithful Servants Walking God's Talk
Service and Outreach Purpose Team
The Service and Outreach Purpose Team involves ministries directed to meeting the needs of those within the community of St. Patrick's Parish and the broader community beyond our borders. They include:
Faith and Light
Members of Faith and Light build a bond of friendship with, and acceptance of, people with developmental disabilities. Their gifts are shared through songs, prayers, gospel reflections, mimes and crafts. Click here for a detailed description of this ministry and how to volunteer.
Friends of Dismas
This ministry’s vision is to build a community of hope by enabling people of faith to get involved in creative and healing ministry to persons touched by crime through friendship, works and prayer.
H.O.P.E. “Helping Other People Everyday”
This group offers visits, transportation for shopping or medical appointments, hot meals when needed, and funeral receptions when there is a death of a family member, or in times of illness or other emergencies.
Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic family fraternal service organization. There are only two requirements for a man to join the Knights of Columbus: that he be a practicing Catholic and that he be 18 years of age or older. Click here to access the K of C website.
Seniors’ Social
Once per month the senior members of our community come together to participate in a Communion service and enjoy a social gathering.
ShareLife
A small group of parishioners manage our parish ShareLife campaign that provides funding for various Catholic charities and organizations in the Archdiocese of Toronto and beyond.
Social Committee
The Social Committee is responsible for coordinating social functions for the parish. The members of the committee work together as a team planning and coordinating events such as the Family Corn Roast.
Social Justice Ministry/Development and Peace
This group gathers monthly to pray and reflect around a particular justice theme prepared by one or a pair of members. We function from a strong value of shared leadership. We facilitate actions in the parish related to child poverty and homelessness. As the D&P group for the parish, we organize the education and action program for the parish around the year’s D&P action theme. We meet on the third Wednesday of the month in the St. Aidan Room. All are welcome. To learn more about Catholic Social Teaching visit: http://www.scarboromissions.ca/ www.devp.org or www.osjspm.org and follow the links to justice.
St. Vincent de Paul Society
This group focuses on the poor and needy in our community. Not only does it assist the poor in ways such as food, clothing and furniture but also in spiritual guidance and hope. If you know of anyone needing assistance, please contact members of this ministry at 905-294-5955, ext. 501.
Visiting Ministry
As Eucharistic Ministers, members visit, pray and take the Eucharist to members of the community who are unable to attend mass. As stewards of this ministry, members service those in the Markham-Stouffville Hospital, area nursing homes and the homebound.
