Help a Child Start the School Year Ready to Succeed
Our annual Backpack Program supports children from low-income families by providing new backpacks filled with essential school supplies, basic toiletries, and socks. These backpacks help students begin the school year with confidence, dignity, and hope—knowing they are prepared and ready to learn alongside their peers.
Run by the Social Justice Ministry, this parish outreach has taken place annually since 2004. To date, the program has supported over 8,300 students from Kindergarten to Grade 9, making a meaningful and lasting impact in our community.
Who the Program Supports
Backpacks are distributed to:
- Clients of St. Vincent de Paul at St. Patrick’s Parish
- Families served through St. Martin de Porres Parish in Scarborough
- Families supported by Native Child and Family Services of Toronto
How You Can Help
Parishioners are invited to donate a backpack filled with supplies.
- Sign up using the form below
- Download and print your Grade's school supply list
- Fill backpack with supplies and attach supply list to the top of the backpack
- Drop off your backpack(s) during the following collection days in August to ensure delivery before the start of the school year
With your generous support, children from low-income families receive the tools they need to succeed in the classroom and feel confident on their first day of school.
